Yony Ramirez Deckard Hodge English 450 April 26, 2011 Bad Cell Phones In today’s society everywhere we look people of all ages and genders are parading with their cell phones. Whether we are driving, or walking down the aisle in the grocery store, and even in class, cell phones have become a part of our everyday lives. Although most students like to text in class, it shouldn’t be allowed because cell phones might tempt students to cheat, and just be a major distraction for everyone. While paying attention is not a requirement of attending class, it seems immature to pay a lot of money to sit in class and text your friends. Also, if you don’t want or need to pay attention, others in the class may usually want to and you are†¦show more content†¦There, the student can either be authorized to use the phone to call home or use the office phone to speak with his or her parent. There is no valid reason for students to be using cell phones in class. If a student is using a cell phone in class, they are either distracting others, ignoring the lessons, cheating, or simply side tracked. It’s also very disrespectful to the teacher, who most likely doesn’t get paid enough, to teach things that we need to know for later in life, even though it may seem like we need to know as much as they try to cram in our heads. Cell phones are bad to use in class because even if you have it on vibrate or silent you can still distract people by laughing at the text messages you get or by asking someone a question if you don’t know how to spell something. You can also distract the teacher by doing this because the teacher might tell you to put it away and having to do that repeatedly causes the teacher to stop teaching just to tell you to stop using the phone and that’s valuable time when you can be learning something.
